Emceeing my first Haitian Party
On Saturday August 2nd 2014, was an early start for me. I woke up with excitement because in my soul; I had to emcee my first Haitian party. As I headed to the Hall where the Hatian Wedding was scheduled to be , I prayed to put out only my ultimate performance for the prestigious couple on their grand day. Since I got there early, I strolled through the gigantic grounds of Crest Hollow County Club which has a total of 7 halls. The Outdoors were astouding, mesmeric in every picturesque way with lush greenery and grounds that were impecably well kept.
Just before the scheduled grand entrance of the glorious couple, I went over the French names with the family. The bride’s father said I sounded French, yey phew that’s good. The stunning couple Valerie and Angelo walked in ever so omnipotently to the Recnet Soul Train awarded Mege Soca Hit Song “Differentology” sung by Bungi Garlin. This was then ceremoniously followed by the the traditional Hatian rituals.
Dj Doe started off the dance floor with groovy Haitian music, but there was a high demand for soca, yes that’s right !! – They wanted plenty Soca. Once he switched to power soca, the dance floor became packed. At one point he was playing the song “Trinidad” by Naya George and they went mawd (mad) lol.
This party was like any other party I emceed at, but very special because I left there even more proficient in the knowledge of how Haitians party as well as partook in some of there cultural customs.
