On September 22nd 2014, I was asked to emcee the Plenary segment of the Go Caribbean Expo. The Go Caribbean International Business and Trade Expo facilitated the convergence of entrepreneurs, financiers, high net-worth individuals and strategic partners focused on the development and support of Caribbean business across the region and in North America. Go Caribbean! Expo is a platform to connect with investors, meet and learn about new business trends, discuss best practices and identify opportunities to increase investment in the Caribbean and for Caribbean businesses in the Diaspora. The goal is to foster relationships between the Caribbean people and the World.
When I was finished emceeing I attended a few seminars. It was very beneficial, all of the speakers had a wealth of information to share. From 11-12pm was the Fortifying Import/Export – “Doing Your Homework” Global Market Readiness. The session focused on regulatory initiatives and programs designed to promote, guide and facilitate the successful entry and expansion of exporting and importing of goods and services between the Caribbean and North America.
I attended the VIP Luncheon. In the morning I had the opportunity to introduce his excellency Dr. Neil Parsan the Ambassador of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the United States of America and Mexico &Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago to the Organization of American States to the stage and he spoke again at the luncheon along with several other speakers.
After the luncheon I took the opportunity to stroll through and look at the booths. As I entered the massive tent, I noticed there was a live DJ and dancers. I also witnessed so many business owners who shared the same vision – growth.
Then I was off to the Leveraging Minority, Woman owned, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises certifications seminar. I learnt a lot about owning a business, the experts were extremely helpful in identifying us individually.
Due to prior commitments I had to leave early, however I was told that there was so much more to learn and enjoy including missing out on hearing Rick Ramdehal and his son Ashton Ramdehal who sang at the Reception.
Over all the expo is a brilliant idea put together by Kevin Howell and his entire team. Congratulations to them and I wish everyone further success.
