Often times we tend to take on odd jobs, or jobs that we don’t like to be able to make ends meet or to figure out what we want. While doing so is quite fine, we should also work towards full filling our passion and working towards getting that dream job. I remember Katie Couric asked her mom to drive her to ABC New studio after sending in her resume months earlier. She continuously got looked over every time. One day she called in and asked to speak with deputy chief Kevin Delaney, she was able to sit down with him and was hired a few weeks later.
Sometimes our goals may seem far-fetched however going towards them and making bold decisions are way better than being afraid to make them. I remember once one of my favorite singers was coming in town to perform for a concert. I knew I wanted to be the emcee and I found out who the promoter was and asked if I could and he said yes. I had a great time emceeing this concert. The answer may not always be yes, but it is worth asking.
Life gets in the way, unexpected babies, debts but if you can find a way to set yourself to make a plan and go towards your dreams; I believe ultimately you will be a happier person. Avoid making up excuses or letting a person not want you to fulfill your passion, because at the end of the day – you have to control which direction your life goes in. Stand up for who you are and never get lost in another person’s world!
