Leaving the root on the onion
This tip comes from Chef Jason Peru – We all know that cooking should be a joyous thing. However while cutting up onions we cry as if we just heard some horrific news, well you can put away the napkins because this tip will surely help. Leave the root of the onion on before you cut it, by doing so you will avoid the layers from breaking and releasing sulfuric compounds which causes us to cry.
So from now on you can leave the root of the onion for a smother happier chopping.
