Dreams Do Come True
As long as I could recall, I’ve always enjoyed listening to Bollywood music. It gave me this palpable feeling. Residing in Trinidad I attended almost every concert featured Bollywood singers and even did the same as I resided in New York , talk about a culture baby huh lol. My love wasn’t just for the songs, but for the movies as well. Ironically the first radio station I broadcast on was East Indian and boy oh boy was I a happy camper. As a result of this, I was required me to do a lot of phone interviews with some prolific singers and even meet some really powerful individuals who were attached to the whole Bollywood Industry. Though my love for all genres is there, there is something about Bollywood music that I’m in love with. Last year my friend Lisa gave me tickets to attend a Kumar Sanu concert and fondly by myself sat and sang through the concert .I enjoyed every moment of it and I attended the after party where I DJ and got the great opportunity to meet Kumar Sanu in the flesh.
Months later I saw that he was performing at the West Indian crowd and I knew I had to attend again. My friend Elita and I attended. We had a blast, this time I was able to have a one on one chat with him, and I told him that I wanted to interview him and he agreed to it. I was ecstatic but wondered if it will really happen.
Thanks to a few a people who were instrumental in making it happen the day finally came for the interview. I had three interviews, Kumar ji was the last. I still had doubts as if it were all a dream, then there he was walking into the studio. I was blown away, we chat for a few moments before the actual interview, and then we went right into it. It was fun interviewing him as his aura was inspiring and I got to delve into some of the most precious questions I dreamt of asking him if I ever had gotten the opportunity to do so. The thing was, that great moment came; and as I reminisced of each time I saw him perform whether in Trinidad or the US and marveled at his prowess, I knew one day I would work very hard to secure an interview with him. As I sat on the set with him I knew this day had come.
It’s important to always work towards the things that we dream about as it gives us value for life, encouragement and hope. Whenever we stick to fulfilling these desires, it fuels us with the momentum to conquer and achieve and realize our unconditional positive regard for the things we know we could do. Dreams do come true but at a price of persistence, hard work and dedication.
