Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey

May 7, 2014

Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, in the 30 seconds video that went viral few weeks ago – everyone described him as a white guy singing accompanied by the black guy on the tabla. Later on, a video was uploaded clearing up this confusion followed by a sweet tune, within one week it crossed over 10 million hits. People grew more and more curious as to whom this guy is. Luckily I had the chance to see Jeffrey live in concert on Sunday May 4th at Resorts World Casino a show held by the Angels Caribbean band. The depth of his voice is immense, the Segway into the songs, his charm, had the crowd screaming throughout his performance. It was a treat for me to sit down and enjoy a concert without having to emcee.

Commencing beautifully with the Aliana dance troupe, performing to a song that was the perfect setting and the right tone. Emcees Maving Skeet and Soca Raja made it their business to make the mom’s feel special. Soca Raja told the audience how important it is to make peace with one’s mother and cherish her, during his performance he got choked up. Remmi-d Ray read a note supposedly from the King of Soca the Mighty Sparrow and performed to one of his tunes, he made it his own, while sort of reenacting the king, his voice is clear, crisp and I would love to see him in a one man’s show, speaking of which singer Dexter Mohammed’s voice is deep, they both brought a different vibe. Ranjeev the heart breaker gave a soulful performance and added to the “concert feel” by using a mic stand singing 3 contemporary hindi songs, while Anil Sukul blew the audience away starting off with a song by the singer who everyone compares him to – Adnan Sami. Paul D got a smooth voice belting out some classics. The lady of the night Geeta Bisram graced the stage with her golden voice, her singing seems effortless. Rangeela dance academy had the audience rocking to their upbeat item, oh btw geeta and Jeffrey did a duet and of course the audience enjoyed it. Jeffrey Iqbal sang for about an hour and a half – a combination of old and new film songs.

Thank you to Renee K Production for the photos and congrats to her and her son on winning a pair of tickets a contest held by readysetrose.com
